Aaron-McDonaldAaron McDonald who operates Progressive Sport and Health Development has 9 years of experience. Aaron began his career after attending RDC and helped develop summer training programs for Can Pro Hockey(2003-2006).  Can Pro Hockey is based out of Red Deer and caters to NHL, Junior and NCAA hockey players.

Progressive Sport and Health Development is based out of Pro Bodies and focused on the overall health and fitness goals of his clients.

Commonly Asked Questions

What Happens on the first visit?
The first visit is on hour in duration where I will go with you through your medical history. If there is a specific problem area, a movement analysis is recorded. The remaining time is spent on the massage.

How long will each session last?
Depending on the complexity of the problem areas, a session can last from 1/2 tol-1/2 hours in length. One hour is the most common length.

Can I be reimbursed for massage?
Yes! If a Doctor gives you a referral for massage therapy, you may qualify for benefits toward your extended health care Plan. You may have coverage with Blue Cross or any other private insurance company. The individual is responsible for sending the receipts in for reimbursement. Alberta Health Care does not cover massage therapy.

An there any reasons why I should not have a massage?
Yes. Massage is not recommended if you have acute infections or diseases, severe varicose veins or various skin conditions.

How is the body covered during massage?
Two sheets are used, one on top and one on the bottom. The top sheet drapes the entire body. Throughout the massage a specific area is uncovered while the rest of the body remains covered.

Do I need to be in pain to be massaged?
No. Massage on healthy tissue feels good. When treating a painful injury, you may at first feel some discomfort which usually lessens noticeably within a short time.

 
Cranio Sacral Therapy

Of osteopathic origin, Cranio Sacral Therapy is a gentle hands-on approach which helps to realign connective tissue tensions associated with chronic joint and systemic pain throughout the body.

Recommended for:

  • Chronic neck and back pain
  • Emotional difficulties
  • Traumatic brain and spinal cord injures.
  • Increased flexibility
  • Infantile disorders, etc.
 
Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic Massage is a deeper approach to the soft tissues, to benefit the chronically injured or acute injuries in the rehabilitation stage. Techniques used are, Triggerpoint therapy, cross fiber friction, deep stripping, etc.
Recommended for:

  • Backaches
  • Neck pain
  • Sciatic discomfort
  • Whiplash
  • Tennis elbow / Golfer's elbow
  • Knee problems, etc.
